Barons of Tang, The Beards, Woohoo Review
Checked out Barons of Tang at the East Brunswick Club on Saturday night. They are kind of Gypsy Hardcore. Very rhythmic - got people gypsy slamming on the dancefloor - but with interesting melodies from the piano accordion, sax, and fiddle. Awesome!
The Beards have a gimmick and they've stuck to it. They've all got beards, every song is about beards (they have two albums of beard songs) and all the stage banter involves shouting at the crowd to grow a beard. My favourite is "If your dad doesn't have a beard then you've got two mums". Not highbrow but it's kinda funny.
